Appearance on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ and American Idol Auditions in NJ

Constantine appeared on The Wendy Williams Show last Monday, Aug. 2.  He was seen at the beginning of the show as the show opener and he introduced Wendy Williams.  He later talked with Wendy about who might be the new judges on American Idol and about Rock of Ages.

The next morning, Tuesday, Aug. 3 was the day of American Idol auditions at the Meadowlands in New Jersey.   Constantine introduced Ryan Seacrest who told the people in the IZOD Center that it was “a record crowd for American Idol.”  Constantine also sang “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Living on a Prayer” from fellow Jersey rocker Jon Bon Jovi.

Here’s a nice picture that Constantine himself posted on his Twitter page with Michael Orland, Music Director from American Idol.  He and Michael worked together when Constantine was a contestant on AI back on Season 4.

‘Rock of Ages’ performance on ‘America’s Got Talent’

Constantine and his Rock of Ages co-star Emily Padgett appeared on the summer hit television show America’s Got Talent this past Wednesday, July 14. Appearing live on the first results show of the season, Constantine performed “I Want to Rock” with Dee Snider of Twisted Sister who made the song famous back in the 80′s. Joel Hoekstra, who plays lead guitar in Rock of Ages, was also onstage for the performance. Emily and Constantine sang “Don’t Stop Believing” with an ensemble of back-up dancers and a Rock of Ages band.

‘Bachelor by Design’ on LX-TV Open House NYC

Constantine recently moved to a new apartment in NYC.  Interior designer Dale Cohen worked with him to decorate his new space.  The results were shown on the television show LX-TV  Open House NYC in a segment called “Bachelor by Design.”

Two rooms were completed for the show.  We also get a look at press clippings that were converted into a wall of framed mementos and added to  the entrance hallway.

Carpeting, drapes, colorful pillows, furniture refinishing and a desk with a window view (highly prized in NYC) were used in his bedroom.

Finally, new furniture and wall hangings were added with some other changes to the living room.  Extra seating is shown in this picture as Constantine “helps” Dale decorate.

Looking Good on a Fuse and on a Harley

Constantine and Kerry Butler, the new Sherrie in Rock of Ages, appeared on The Pop Show on the Fuse network on last Tuesday, Oct. 6.  They were interviewed and played a short game “testing” what each knew about the other person.

The pictures that really inspired me were the ones taken of him at a recent event sponsored by Harley Davidson.

He sure looks nice posing on that cycle.  This one makes me want to “head out on the highway.”

Constantine Clarifies the Brawl Stories

Constantine was interviewed on the entertainment magazine show Extra! last night. The topic was about Paula Abdul leaving American Idol.

Earlier in the week, this blog, like so many others, ran stories about reports that Constantine had been in a bar room fight about Paula Abdul. He set the record straight about what really happened.

Constantine said that he will miss Paula but he’d like to set the record straight about reports he got into a bar brawl over Abdul’s departure.

“It was just a drunk dude at a concert who jumped on my back,” Constantine says of the incident.

Not that the former “Idol” wouldn’t rush to Paula’s defense! “I love Paula. I would hit the streets for her, but that’s not what happened.” He adds that the “show won’t be the same without” Paula.

Constantine to be on Extra! tonight

Constantine posted on his Facebook page that he will be appearing on the  entertainment news show Extra! tonight, Friday, August 14.  No word on what it is about.

Check this website to confirm when it is on in your area.

Constantine and ‘Rock of Ages’ on ‘The View’

Constantine and several members of the cast of Rock of Ages were guests on The View today.

On the show’s website, there is a video called An Inside View: Rock of Ages where Constantine discusses what they are going to do on the show and how he is feeling about going on.

Constantine was the first guest of the day.

He was interviewed by Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Sherri Shepherd,  and Elizabeth Hasselbeck.  They discussed American Idol days and of course, Rock of Ages.  But here they are having a light moment looking at his first theater venture, West Side Story, where he was very young and according to Constantine, weighed about 40 pounds – kidding!

A medley from the show was performed by Constantine, Savannah Wise, Ericka Hunter, Tad Wilson, Andre Ward, and Adam Dannheisser.

Looks like the audience received lighters!

Good interview, good performance, good show!

Tony Night 2009 – A Look Back

Yes, a lot of time has passed since the Tony Awards.  But it was a fantastic event to attend and well worth looking back at.  If you are attending the show and are not a celebrity, you probably won’t get to see the Red Carpet.  The Red Carpet takes place on 50th Street and the line to get into Radio City Music Hall is on 51st Street.  So it was nice for me to be able to see these pictures taken by professionals of Constantine and his lovely mom.

The opening number of the show was amazing to watch.  It did seem a like something was missing when Rock of Ages came on with no Constantine.  He remained in his seat while members of the cast and the 80′s rock band Poison sang “Nothing But a Good Time.”  It was only when the Tribe from Hair came out singing that one of their cast ran down into the audience and brought him onstage for the big finale.  Outside of seeing the back of his head in the audience, this was the first time I saw him that evening!

It was quite a finish to a spectacular opening number and this picture shows it more clearly:

When the time arrived for Tony nominated Rock of Ages to perform, I was ready.  It was quite thrilling to hear Constantine’s strong voice ringing out so clearly in Radio City Music Hall, especially on that long note he holds out towards the end of  “Don’t Stop Believing.”  It was quite a proud moment as a fan to see him and the cast perform as well as they did that evening.

The introduction to “I Wanna Rock” with Mitchell Jarvis is shown here:

Crowd surfing:

And here he goeeessss…..

One of the best moments of the evening came when the audience put on their lighters for the final song.  We each had gotten one when we entered the building earlier in the night.  It was amazing that thousands of people held off using them until the very moment they were supposed to turn them on. And it was quite a spectacular scene to be a part of.

Great show, great performances, terrific night all around.  It would have totally perfect if Constantine had won the Tony Award.  But that didn’t happen, so we’ll have to wait another year for that.  All in all, a fabulous night!

Thursday – Tony Week – Constantine Sings on the Today Show

Constantine was a guest on the segment of the Today Show hosted by Hoda Kotb and Kathy Lee Gifford this past Thursday, June 4th.  A contest, Everyone has a Story,  honored John and Gloria Dawson that morning.   Constantine sang a special song written for the occasion.

The song is titled “He Only Has Eyes for Me.”  It tells the story of a father’s devotion to his child.

Constantine will be recording the song and it will become available for downloading on iTunes with proceeds going to charity.

The story of John and Gloria Dawson was very moving as was the song.  View the entire segment here.

Tony Week – Monday

The week before the Tony Awards is a busy one in New York City.  Constantine has been spotted at several events in addition to his regular nightly shows of Rock of Ages.

This Monday, he attended the American Theatre Wing Spring Gala.

Then he was back to the Brooks Atkinson Theatre for Rock of Ages and a little photo op with Paris Hilton.
